Abigail and Kitten Progress Report – What a Day Can Bring

You are here: Home / Abigail and Kitten Progress Report – What a Day Can Bring

If you read my post from earlier this morning, there is no denying my frustration and disappointment with the transition of a new kitten to adult cat Abigail’s turf. In case you missed it, here is the post:

Abigail and Kitten Progress Report – Grade F

What I didn’t realize when I posted, is that I had been doing some cleaning on Sunday afternoon and put Abigail’s favorite toys (she keeps them in a pile under the table) in a plastic bag and I stored the bag in a closet. I forgot to take the toys out yesterday and left them in the closet overnight. Abigail gets up in the middle of the night to check on her toys, and when she did last night she must have been sickened by the fact that maybe the kitten had stolen her toys and taken them downstairs. I think this is why I found Abigail on the steps, on her way downstairs to confront the big, evil, invader, kitten who made off with:
Scuba Barbie
Yellow Yowza Banana
Catnip Bag
Plastic Bag (from Superfresh for licking)
Small Grey Mouse
It hit me around lunchtime, that it looked way too neat under my table; when I realized, the TOYS!!!! Abigail was so excited when I pulled out the bag and dumped all her beloved friends on the ground. She rolled and rolled on them; crunching and licking the bag. To top off the evening tonight, Abigail and the kitten played TOGETHER for three entire minutes and seventeen seconds. I can’t thank Kelly over at CatToys.com enough for her wonderful toy recommendations. As it turns out, the Neko Flies (red bug) was the biggest hit tonight.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support and encouragement through this process. The work is paying off, and tremendously! I will be writing a post for Cat Chat with Caren & Cody in June to discuss the experience, offer tips, what did work, what didn’t, and let you know all the fabulous ideas and feedback from key Social Networking contributors. Please don’t expect a self-righteous post that explains how to do a transition purrfectly.

It will be my experience during the process, feelings, mistakes, and all. I’ll keep you posted as the date gets closer, until then, check out Cat Chat as they always have some very cool posts!
Have a great week and thanks again!
